Air conditioning off as soon as nobody is in the room

A booked room is not always an occupied room. Guests head out for breakfast, into town or to the beach, while the air conditioning keeps running. Holio's motion sensor detects whether someone is in the room and switches the air conditioning off when the room is empty.

How it works

Presence decides whether the air conditioning runs

The sensor detects whether someone is in the room. Holio immediately translates that into the right air conditioning state.

The sensor detects someone in the room. The air conditioning keeps running as set.

No more movement detected. Holio waits briefly to make sure the room is really empty.

The room is empty. Holio switches the air conditioning off, so no energy is wasted on an empty room.
Why a motion sensor?

Booked is not the same as present

With PMS data, Holio already knows when a room is booked. The motion sensor adds actual presence: is someone in the room right now or not?

  • Detects whether a person is in the room
  • Switches the air conditioning off when nobody is in the room
  • Complements PMS occupancy with actual presence
  • Also useful in spaces without bookings, such as meeting rooms
